Awards Assembly @ Withernsea High School

Today I had the great honour of attending the Annual Governors' Awards Assembly at Withernsea High School. An introduction was made by Dr F Ireland (Headmaster), and Mr B Cloke (Chair of Governors) made the response.
First up was the Service to the School Council introduced by Ms S Harris (teacher), and I presented the certificates to Emily Birks and Jackie Barker.
Many more awards were handed out by other members of the community who supported the school. All of these young people had excelled in their topics and it was a privilege to see them step up in front of family and friends to collect their awards.
Rachael Mackenzie (Youth Sports Trust) was the visiting speaker, and she gave an inspiring speech aimed at showing that if you really want something, and were prepared to work for it, you would succeed.
The program described today as "A celebration of effort and excellence of the students of our school". It was certainly that, and I feel proud and humbled to have been invited to join in the fun.
