decisions, decisions

Somehow you always know when winter is on its way, the boiler develops a fault. Not that I have my heating on yet, but I miss the constant hot water. After trying several firms, including the man who installed it, I find the boiler is not your run of the mill boiler, but one that really needs specialist handling. So I phone the makers who promise someone will be out today to fix it. I hope so as although the sun is shining, the day has a definite autumnal feel. Of course they only give something like an eight hour time slot, with a half hour phone warning when they will be here.

Yesterday I took cover off the knitting machine, went through some patterns. Looked at the million cones of yarn, and tried to decide what I wanted to make. I have chosen a pale blue and knitted a tension square - yeah I actually did one. This is because I have no idea what ply any of the cones are having rescued them from someone who was just going to throw them out. As they cost me nothing I will not worry too much if something does not turn out as I wish. Though I hope it does because of the time factor. Anyway the tension is somewhere between a 3 and 4 ply, and as I have no charting device I am unsure what to do. I do have some basic patterns and thought maybe I would just try a simple plain jumper in 4 ply and see what happens. But then again I may try a different cone and see if I can get a more definite tension...........

Have you tried the Knitware software? You just need to enter your tension readings and you can create your own custom patterns. I use it a lot.

I have now Susan, just that I forgot I had it on my computer. I had a play with it yesterday because I had forgotten how to use it:)
